At Bradley (2011-14)
Recruited primarily as a catcher, Sprout contributed behind the plate, at first base, at third base and as a designated hitter throughout his career ... Shared the team lead with three triples in 2011, including two March 11 versus Toledo ... A New York Collegiate Baseball League All-Star in 2011, Sprout went on to help the Licking County (Ohio) Settlers to the 2012 Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League championship.

High School
A 4-year letterman at Illinois Valley Central High School, Sprout helped the Gray Ghosts to a runner-up finish in the 2008 IHSA Class 2A state tournament, as well as an Elite Eight finish in 2009 and a third-place finish in 2010 ... Enjoyed a 33-game hitting streak during his sophomore season in 2008 ... The 2010 Peoria Journal Star Player of the Year, Sprout was a Louisville Slugger first-team high school All-American as a senior.

The son of Jeff and Julie Sprout, Derek was born Aug. 28. 1991 ... Majoring in sports communication, Sprout earned a spot on the Bradley Athletic Director's Honor Roll six times.
