2008 (Senior):  Used primarily in a mid-week role, Barbalat compiled a 3-1 record with a save in his 12 appearances ... Was 2-0 with two no-decisions in his four starts ... Came out of the game with the lead in the fifth inning of both of the no-decisions ... Fanned a career-best five hitters in consecutive outings, April 1 in a winning start versus Quincy and April 9 in 3.0 innings of scoreless relief April 9 at Saint Louis.

 

2007 (Junior):  In his first start of the year April 18, Barbalat held Chicago State to one unearned run in his 6.0 innings of work ... Ended the season with active streaks of seven appearances and 18.1 innings without allowing an earned run.

 

2006 (Sophomore):  Made his first collegiate start March 16 versus Eastern Illinois, allowing two runs on three hits in his 4.0 innings ... His season was cut short after six appearances when a blood clot formed in his right shoulder.

 

2005 (Freshman):  Made his college debut April 1 by tossing one scoreless inning at Missouri State ... In his second appearance, Barbalat struck out the side in his one inning April 16 versus Robert Morris.

 

High School:  Played only one (sophomore) season of high school baseball at Westmount Collegiate Institute ... He did play one season of junior varsity basketball, however.

 

Personal:  The son of Jeff and Glenda Barbalat, Eitan was born May 7, 1986 ... Majoring in cell and molecular biology, Barbalat boasts a 4.0 cumulative grade point average ... In preparation for medical school, Barbalat has volunteered in the emergency room at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria throughout his undergraduate career.
