Ashbeck has flirted with a two-way role in his first two seasons, while emerging as a front-line starting pitcher ...  He is a semifinalist for the 2015 John Olerud Award watch list as one of the nation’s top two-way players… Has made 30 career pitching appearances with a 6-5 record and 3.61 ERA, while also playing 33 games at first base and as a DH with a .218 batting average, four doubles and 10 RBI ... Took over as Bradley's "Game 1" starter during the third Valley series of the 2014 campaign, finishing his sophomore season with a 6-3 record and the lowest ERA (2.57) by a Bradley pitcher with at least 1.0 IP/game since future Major Leaguer Bryan Rekar in 1993 ...  Ashbeck is one of just four pitchers in Bradley Baseball’s 115- year history to win as many as 11 games in a season, the first since Doug Robertson won 12 games in 1996… Started two of Bradley's four shutouts in 2014, allowing just two singles with nine strikeouts in 7.2 innings March 9 versus Dayton (5-0) and five singles in 8.0 scoreless March 26 at Iowa (7-0) ... Earned the win in the opening round of the 2014 MVC Baseball Championship against host Indiana State, working 8.0 innings in a 6-2 win against the second-seeded Sycamores… Bradley’s designated hitter when he is not pitching, Ashbeck is batting .264 in his 35 games as a hitter and he is second on the team with 12 doubles and 30 RBI’s despite his limited at-bats. A true third-year junior, Ashbeck graduated May 6 with his degree in business management and administration.

Ashbeck was a 3-sport start at Marshfield (Wis.) High School ... His high school football team's starting quarterback, Ashbeck was named the region and conference Offensive Player of the Year on the gridiron as a senior in 2011 and received Big Ten football recruiting interest ... On the diamond, Ashbeck earned all-conference and all-district honors in baseball as a junior in 2011 when he posted a 6-3 record with a 3.85 earned run average and 53 strikeouts in 56.1 innings, while also hitting .297 with 17 RBI's. He also earned all-conference honors on the basketball floor in 2010-11 and served as team captain for both the basketball and baseball teams.
