Biography

 

2008 (Freshman):  A mid-year transfer from Mississippi State, Popescu appeared in 17 games, primarily as a defensive replacement in the outfield ... Picked up his first career hit in his second of five starts by going 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored Feb. 24 at Murray State ... Hitless in his 18 at-bats during his last 14 games.

 

High School:  An all-district performer at short stop, Popescu also earned all-area and honorable mention all-state honors from the Dallas Morning News ... Hit .435 with five home runs, 14 doubles, 32 RBI’s and 18 stolen bases during his senior season.

 

Personal:  The son of Tom and Tracy Popescu, Nick was born April 23, 1989 in St. Louis ... The oldest of three siblings, Nick’s younger brothers are Ryan (15) and Scott (14) ... Nick’s father, Tom, played collegiately at Valparaiso and was drafted by the Chicago White Sox ... Enrolled in Bradley’s award-winning Academic Exploration Program.
