At Bradley

Pitched one inning Feb. 20, 2011 in the second game of a doubleheader at Lipscomb and missed the rest of the season due to injury...Back at full strength for the 2012 season, Adkins earned his first career win with 2.0 innings of scoreless relief April 1 at Western Illinois...Recorded a 2.6 strikeouts-to-walk ratio in 2012, allowing batters to hit just .247 against him ... Made his first career start as Bradley's 2013 opening-day starter Feb. 15 at Arkansas State, but again was lost for the season after just two outings ... Returned to the mound as a fourth-year sophomore two-thirds of the way through the 2014 season and immediately worked his way into the weekend rotation as Bradley's "Game 2" starter ... As a fifth-year junior Adkins has fanned 19 hitters in his last two games, setting a career-high with nine K’s April 18 versus Wichita State, then eclipsing the mark with 10 strikeouts April 25 versus Evansville  ... In six career home starts, Adkins is 5-0 with a 0.49 ERA in 36.2 innings... Leads Bradley Baseball's fundraising efforts for the Vs. Cancer Foundation, which has generated more than $11,000 through online donations.

High School
A three-year varsity baseball letterman under Dave Kalal at York (Ill.) High School, Adkins earned West Suburban Silver all-conference and all-area honors in 2009 and 2010 ... Led the Dukes to three consecutive 20-win seasons in a row ... Had a total of 61 strikeouts in his senior year with a 1.77 earned run average ... Graduated from York on the National Honor Society.

The son of Richard and Mary Adkins, Steve was born Nov. 1, 1991 in Elmhurst, Ill. ... Has one older sister, Laura.
