2008 (Junior): Thornton was used primarily as a middle reliever, posting a 1-2 record with a save in his 15 appearances ... Made six consecutive scoreless appearances, beginning April 5 versus Creighton and extending through the May 2 game at Illinois State ... In those six scoreless appearances, Thornton tossed 17.1 innings with 10 strikeouts and just one walk .... In his lone start during the hot streak, Thornton blanked Chicago State on seven hits in a season-best 8.0 innings ... His 3.3 strikeouts-to-walk ratio was easily the best on the team.
2007 (Sophomore): Excelled as Bradley’s top mid-week starter, going 5-0 with a 2.92 earned run average ... In his eight non-conference outings, Thornton was 4-0 with a 1.50 earned run average ... Picked up his first win of the season with a complete-game effort March 13 at Saint Louis ... After working the first 5.0 scoreless innings in a 13-0 win March 20 at Hawai’i-Hilo, Thornton’s third victory came after going 8.0 innings in a 6-4 victory April 10 at Illinois.
2006 (Redshirt Freshman): After redshirting as a true freshman in 2005, Thornton earned his first career victory April 12 against Western Illinois by going 4.2 innings in relief.
High School: A three-sport participant at Olympia, Thornton helped the Spartan baseball team to the 2002 IHSA Class A state championship ... Also helped the Olympia golf team to a state tournament appearance and he played basketball for four seasons.
