After one season with the Creighton Men's Basketball program Malik Garner is set to join the Braves ahead of the 2026-27 season as the Coordinator of Player Development & Scouting.
Garner previously served as a Graduate Assistant at Creighton during the 2025-26 season and was a Graduate Manager at High Point from 2023-2025. While at Creighton, he served alongside current Bluejay coaches who had also seen time at High Point in Alan Huss and Mike Nesbitt.
Over the past two seasons (2023-25), Garner served as a Graduate Assistant at High Point, helping the Panthers compile a 56-15 overall record and a 27-5 mark in Big South play. During that stretch, HPU earned its first NCAA Tournament appearance in program history as a No. 13 seed against Purdue and captured back-to-back outright Big South Regular Season titles for the first time ever. High Point also became the first Big South program since Coastal Carolina in 2011 to win consecutive outright regular-season championships.
During the 2024-25 season, the Panthers finished 29-6 overall and 14-2 in conference play, tying the Big South record for most wins in a season and setting a new HPU program record. High Point also posted the best winning percentages of its Division I era with an 88 percent conference winning percentage and an 84 percent regular-season winning percentage.
Garner finished his collegiate playing career at Le Moyne College, totaling nearly 900 points, more than 200 rebounds, and 300 assists. He also played at Saginaw Valley State University and was part of three conference championship teams, including back-to-back titles at Le Moyne. Across four seasons, he made three NCAA Tournament appearances and one Elite Eight appearance before his senior postseason was canceled due to COVID-19.
A 2014 high school graduate, Garner attended Herbert Henry Dow High School before finishing at Citrus Park Academy in Tampa, Florida, where he averaged 19 points, five assists, and five rebounds per game. He then completed a postgraduate year at Sunrise Christian Academy in Wichita, Kansas, a nationally ranked postgraduate program, where he started alongside seven Division I signees.
