Smith is one of 10 national finalists for the 2011 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award ... The leader of Bradley's defensive scheme, Smith has overcome a pair of injuries to start 53 of the 57 games he has played in his first three seasons ... A member of The Valley All-Freshmen Team, Smith played the entire 2009 season with an undiagnosed sports hernia ... Suffered a strained MCL during the first day of 2010 preseason, but recovered to start the season's final 20 games ... After playing a center defensive midfield position for his first two-and-a-half seasons, Smith moved into the back line Oct. 1, 2010 versus IPFW and helped the Braves to an 8-4-2 record down the stretch, culminating with the MVC Tournament championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament ... Bradley's designated long thrower, Smith picked up his 2010 assist with a throw into the box for a Tommy Fritze finish versus Dartmouth ... Earned his first career point by assisting Chris Cutshaw's third goal in the 3-0 win against Mercer Sept. 6, 2009 at Shea Stadium ... Made an immediate impact for the Braves by gaining a starting assignment in his college debut and helping Bradley to a 4-0 victory at Memphis ... Smith is serving on the Bradley Braves Council student-athlete advisory board for a third consecutive year and the MVC Student-Athlete Advisory Council for a second straight year.

Prep Overview
Smith was a two-time all-state performer for one of the top programs in the state of Illinois, helping Springfield's Sacred Heart-Griffin High School to a 62-23-6 record during his four-year prep career ... Despite playing a defensive center midfield position, Smith racked up 26 goals and 25 assists the last two years ... In addition to his all-state awards as a junior and senior, Smith was the 2006 and 2007 Central State Eight Player of the Year, a three-time all-conference pick and an All-Midwest Region choice in 2007.
Club Soccer
Moving up into an attacking position at the club level, Smith excelled for the Metro United FC Premier club program, helping his side to a United States Club Soccer regional runner-up finish in 2006.
