Jill Schopieray arrived on The Hilltop in the summer of 2004, after serving as head coach of the varsity team at Big Rapids High School in Big Rapids, Mich., for the 2002-03 and 2003-04 school years and is in her second season as an assistant coach at Bradley.
A graduate of Ferris State with a B.S. in Marketing, Schopieray is no stranger to The Hilltop. Her younger sister is former Brave standout and two-time first-team All-MVC selection Stephanie Behrns.
Schopieray began her collegiate career at Northeastern Illinois during the 1997-98 season, but transferred to Ferris State after Northeastern Illinois dropped athletics following her freshman year.
"Jill has been a wonderful addition to our staff," Luster said. "She brings the same level of work ethic and joy to her responsibilities as does Sarah. I am very pleased with both Sarah and Jill and expect them to have a major impact on the success of our program."
While at Ferris State, Schopieray helped the Bulldogs to a 72-37 (.661) overall record and a berth in the NCAA Division II tournament in 1999. Ferris State also posted a 38-18 (.679) record in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in her three seasons.
Schopieray joined the Bulldog coaching staff in December of 2000 after completing her eligibility, where she helped guide Ferris State to a 21-11 record and second place finish in the GLIAC in 2001.
After earning her B.S. in Marketing in December of 2001, Schopieray took over the varsity head coaching duties at Big Rapids High School in Big Rapids, Mich.
During her two-year tenure as head coach of the Cardinals she led Big Rapids to its first conference championship in 15 years during the 2004 season.
Schopieray will assist with practice organization, recruiting, scouting, match preparation and setter training, in addition to helping with team travel and camps.
The former Jill Behrns, she and her husband Jayme were married on June 7, 2003 and reside in Peoria.
