CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Bradley continued to struggle offensively without junior setter Ashley Vance (Loda, Ill./Paxton-Buckley-Loda) in the lineup, as the Braves fell in three games (30-19, 30-20, 30-13) to Kent State Saturday morning at the Vernon Manor Bearcat Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Junior Lindsay Stalzer (Kewanee, Ill./Kewanee) was the only Brave to boast more than five kills on the day, finishing with eight. As a team Bradley hit .009 (25 kills-24 errors-114 attacks), while the Golden Flashes boasted a .333 hitting percentage.
Freshman Eileen Hillary (Washington, Ill./Washington) had 21 assists and tied for team-high honors with eight digs, filling in for the injured Vance.
The Kent State trio of Danielle Holt, Sarah Wilber and Ruth Ladurner-Schnitzer combined for 37 of the Flashes 53 kills and hit .358 (37 kills - eight errors - 81 attacks).
Bradley (0-2) will close out plat the Vernon Manor Bearcat Invitational Saturday at 4 p.m. against Maryland-Baltimore County (0-3). Both squads will be looking for their first victory of the season after UMBC fell in three games to tournament host Cincinnati earlier Saturday morning.
