WATERLOO, Iowa -- Northern Iowa rocked Bradley starter Brandon Magee for nine runs, breaking the game open with a 5-run six inning, then ended the game early with two more runs in the seventh to earn an 11-1 Missouri Valley Conference baseball victory Friday night at Riverfront Stadium.

Northern Iowa hurler Jeff Hille improved to 5-4 overall by scattering four Bradley hits, none by leading hitters Paul Rice (0-3) and Brad Canada (0-3). Freshman catcher Ryan Eigsti provided the only offense for the Braves by cranking his fourth home run of the season in the sixth inning.

Eigsti's homer pulled the Braves (26-16, 9-10) to within 4-1, but the Panthers (24-24, 7-12) responded with a 5-run outburst off Magee in the bottom of the sixth. Panther centerfielder Mark Frieske delivered the inning's big blow with a 3-run double. Nate Trumm added a 2-out, RBI single and left fielder Clayton Daniels finally chased Magee with UNI's fifth double of the game. Magee fell to 7-4 by allowing nine runs on 13 hits in 5 2/3 innings. He walked three and struck out five.

Reliever Josh Carsuo got the final out of the sixth inning, but he could not keep the Panthers off the board in the seventh. Caruso walked four of the first five batters he faced in the seventh, forcing one run home, then Dave Westergaard ended the night due to the league's 10-run rule by hitting into a fielder's choice.
