Box Score LAWRENCE, Kan. ? For the second time this season, Bradley has allowed 10 runs in an inning while playing in the state of Kansas. This time, host Kansas (34-21) used a 10-run fifth inning to pull away for a 15-3 victory versus the Braves (23-25) Friday night in the Jayhawk Classic at Hoglund Ballpark.
With Kansas working on a 3-2 lead, two Bradley errors in the bottom of the fifth opened the flood gates for the Jayhawks, who scored all 10 runs on six hits and a sacrifice fly after the two Bradley miscues.
Bradley ace Brandon Magee fell to 7-4 on the season by giving up 11 runs, but only three earned runs, Friday. Magee struck out four Jayhawks in 4 2/3 innings, increasing his season total to 93 strikeouts.
While Kansas pounded out 14 hits Friday night, the Braves managed nine hits against a trio of Jayhawk hurlers. Dan Brewer, Colby Luttrell and Ryan Curry all recorded two hits for the Braves.
Bradley will try for a weekend split versus the Jayhawks when the two teams meet again Saturday afternoon. The Braves originally were scheduled to play Northern Colorado in its final game at the Jayhawk Classic, but the hosts reworked the schedule for the triangular event Thursday, setting up the rematch versus Bradley. Senior Collin Walker is expected to be Bradley's starting pitcher Saturday.
