WICHITA, Kan. ? Bradley senior pitcher Collin Walker (2-7) made a rough season a little sweeter by combining with freshman Collin Brennan to bounce Creighton (31-21) from the ConAgra Foods MVC Tournament with a 1-0 victory in the first game of Friday's action at Eck Stadium.

Bradley (26-30), which blanked Creighton for the third time in four games this season and set the school single-season record with its eighth shutout victory, advances to tonight's 7 o'clock game versus Missouri State.  If the sixth-seeded Braves manage to hand Missouri State its first tournament loss, Bradley will play in Saturday's 7 p.m. championship game.

With Walker and Brennan combining on the six-hitter, freshman Colby Luttrell delivered the game's only RBI, driving home Dan Brewer from second base with a one-out single into left in the bottom of the second inning.

Creighton used two singles in the top of the second inning to put runners at first and second with one out, Walker got Andrew Small to strikeout and Mark Wellwood to ground out to exit the jam.

After getting out of the jam in the top of the second, Bradley took advantage of Creighton's second error to score the game's only run.  Brewer started the inning by hitting a ground ball to second, but Bluejay second baseman Chad Ogden first bobbled the ball, then threw wide to first.  Peter Malinowski moved Brewer to second with his first sacrifice bunt of the year and Luttrell came threw with his run-scoring single for the 1-0 lead.  Bradley tried to build on the inning with a hit-and-run play, but with the middle infielders moving to cover second, Ryan Eigsti's chopper up the middle wound up being a perfect inning-ending double play.

The Braves used some station-to-station hitting to chase Creighton starter Zak Moore (1-3) in the fifth inning.  Eigsti led off the fifth with a single through the box, went to second on Curtis Hornaday's sacrifice bunt and took third on Jones' squibber in front of home plate.  With the left-handed hitting Pat Ryerson up next, Creighton head coach Ed Servais pulled Moore in favor of lefty reliever Trevor Benson, who got Ryerson to ground out to second to end the threat.

Bradley put its leadoff man on for the fifth time in six innings when Curry opened the bottom of the sixth with a single to left.  But after Newburger moved Curry to second with a sacrifice, Brewer grounded out to third before the Bluejays intentionally walked Malinowski to put runners at first and second and set up a lefty-lefty matchup with Luttrell.  Luttrell flew out to center field as the Braves once again came up empty.

Walker took a 4-hit shutout into the eighth inning, but Wellwood led off the eighth with a single, and after Urzendowski popped out trying to sacrifice bunt, Bradley head coach Dewey Kalmer brought in Collin Brennan to relieve Walker.  Brennan needed only two pitches to get out of the inning.  Chase Odenreider flew out to left on the first pitch and Ross Sinclair tried to bunt for a hit, but Brewer made a great play to nab Sinclair at first.

In the bottom of the eighth, Curry drew a leadoff walk and went to second on Newburger's sacrifice and the team's season-high fourth sacrifice of the year.  Creighton's second reliever, Tony Bilek, got Brewer swinging to end the freshman's team season-high 11-game hitting streak.  Bradley sent left-handed hitting John Lequia to the plate for Malinowski and Creighton countered by bringing lefty reliever Scott Reese in out of the bullpen.  Bradley completed the pitcher-hitter shuffle by sending Adam Kimble to the plate, but the seldom-used reserve bounced out to short as the Braves stranded their third runner in scoring position.

Daeges worked Brennan for a 9-pitch walk to lead off the ninth inning.  Creighton leads the nation with 81 sacrifice bunts this season, but the Bluejays fell to 0-for-4 in sacrifice attempts Friday when pinch hitter John Nowaczyk popped out to Brennan.  Gradoville followed with a single into the right centerfield gap, however, to put runners on the corners with one out.  Ogden fouled out to Newburger at first for the second out and Small grounded out to Brewer to end the game, giving Brennan his fourth save of the season and second of the tournament.
