OMAHA, Neb. ? Forced to try to rally late in each of the first two games of its weekend Missouri Valley Conference series at Creighton, Bradley grabbed the early lead Sunday, but the Braves (15-15, 2-7) could not take advantage of the quick start and dropped a 3-2 decision to the Bluejays (23-11, 9-3) Sunday afternoon at the Creighton Sports Complex.

Although Bradley's pitching staff held the Bluejays to 11 total runs in the three-game series, the Braves managed only six runs, scoring twice in each of the three games.

Junior right-hander Chris Wright (2-1) suffered his first loss as a Brave, despite a solid start.  Wright allowed all three Creighton runs, two earned, in 6.1 innings by scattering six hits and striking out five.  Freshman Brad Altbach worked the final 1.2 innings and allowed one hit with a strikeout.  Sunday's loss ended a streak of five straight one-run Bradley wins in games that Altbach had appeared.

Bradley struck first with a two-out rally in the first Sunday.  Shortstop Dan Brewer doubled and Ryan Curry drove him home with a single up the middle.  The Braves held the 1-0 lead until the fifth when a Curry throwing error opened the door for the Bluejays to plate an unearned run.  After Steve Winkelmann reached on the error, he went to second Andy Masten's sacrifice bunt.  Wright had a chance to get out of the inning after getting Brett Mieras to fly out for the inning's second out, but Ross Sinclair delivered with a single to right center to pull the Bluejays even, 1-1.

The Bluejays grabbed the lead for good in the sixth when Andrew Small followed a two-out walk to Darin Ruf with a two-run home run.  Bradley used the long ball to pull within one when Justin Carr launched his fifth home run of the year in the top of the seventh, but the Braves were unable to complete the comeback.

After playing its last seven games on the road, Bradley will open a six-game home stand Tuesday by taking on Illinois Tech in a 6 p.m. game at O'Brien Field.  The Braves also will host Chicago State in a Wednesday doubleheader before playing host to Southern Illinois in a three-game Valley set next weekend.  Admission is free to all midweek non-conference games at O'Brien Field.
