Redbirds Visit For Final Weekend

?       Bradley will close out the 2009 home season this weekend by hosting Interstate 74 rival Illinois State in a three-game series at O'Brien Field.

?       The first two games Friday and Saturday nights are scheduled for 7 o'clock starts and the series will conclude with a 1 p.m. contest Sunday.

?       Friday's game has been declared a Red-Out and the first 500 fans in attendance will receive a free Bradley t-shirt.

?       The Braves will honor 11 seniors in a pregame ceremony Sunday.

Scahill's First Shutout

?       With no fewer than 19 professional scouts planted behind home plate, fourth-year junior right-hander Rob Scahill tossed a four-hit shutout in Bradley's series-opening, 1-0 win against Southern Illinois Friday night.

?       Not only was the performance Scahill's first career shutout, it was his first complete game in 33 college starts.

?       The 1-0 victory was Bradley's first shutout since an 8-0 win against Chicago State April 27, 2008, was Bradley's first 1-0 victory since eliminating Creighton in the third round of the 2006 MVC Tournament and was the first 1-0 home win since Collin Walker outdueled Wichita State's Mike Pelfrey April 18, 2003.

Scahill's Home Streak

?       Scahill is expected to be Bradley's starter Friday night when the Braves open their three-game series against Interstate 74 rival Illinois State.

?       In his three home starts this season, Scahill is 3-0 with a microscopic 0.39 earned run average, having allowed only one earned run in 23.1 innings.

?       Scahill will enter Friday's game against the Redbirds working streaks of 14.0 consecutive scoreless innings and 17.2 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run.

Luttrell Joins 200 Club

?       Senior rightfielder Colby Luttrell played in his 200th career game Saturday versus Southern Illinois and now is tied for eighth in school history with 201 career games played.

?       With six games remaining in the 2009 season, Luttrell can climb to seventh on Bradley's all-time list.

?       Luttrell, who has appeared in all but five games Bradley has played since 2006, also begins the week seventh in Braves history with 652 at-bats and needs six more runs batted in to crack the school's top 10 list.

O'Brien Field -- Home of the Braves

?       Opened in 2002 for the Peoria Chiefs season, O'Brien Field also became the home of the Bradley Baseball program in 2003.

?       In seven seasons, Bradley now owns an 81-63 (.563) all-time record at O'Brien Field.

?       Bradley is 9-8 at home so far this year and needs to win one game against Illinois State to secure at least a .500 home record for the sixth consecutive season.

Bradley-Illinois State Series

?       Bradley owns a 112-98 lead in the all-time series against its Interstate 74 rival Illinois State.

?       The two teams have split their previous 10 meetings at O'Brien Field, but since being swept by the Redbirds in a four-game series in the stadium's first year in 2003, the Braves have won five of their last six home games against Illinois State.
