PEORIA, Ill. - Wisconsin-Milwaukee outscored the Bradley baseball team 32-8 en route to a non-conference double-header sweep Wednesday night at O'Brien Field. The Panthers used a seven-run fourth inning to take game one 12-6 and completed the sweep with 20 runs on 21 hits in game two for a 20-2 victory.
In game one, the Panthers broke a 3-3 tie with seven runs on six hits in the top of the fourth. Seven straight UWM batters reached base to start the inning and all seven came around to score to give the Panthers a 10-3 advantage. Bradley plated two two-out runs in the bottom of the fourth to make the score 10-5, but would come no closer as Wisconsin-Milwaukee took game one 12-6.
Sophomore third baseman Rob Elliott (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley H.S.) was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, while junior outfielder Brian Martin (Glen Ellyn, Ill./College of DuPage/Lombard Montini Catholic H.S.) added three RBI's to lead the Bradley offense. UWM's Sam Sivilotti finished game one 4-for-4 with five RBI's, including his first homerun of the season. Freshman right-hander Rob Kennedy (Chicago, Ill./Northside Prep) took the loss on the mound for the Braves, allowing four runs on six hits in 2.1 innings of relief work.
In game two, Wisconsin-Milwaukee had five players with two or more hits and six players with two or more RBI's in the 20-2 win. Senior infielder Jordan Colvin (O'Fallon, Ill./Southwestern Illinois College/O'Fallon Township H.S.) had two of Bradley's four hits and drove in one-of-two RBI's. Wisconsin-Milwaukee's Cole Kraft went 4-for-4 with three runs and three RBI's, while Shaun Wegner was 2-for-3 with four runs batted in. Bradley freshman right-hander Andy Johnson (Medina, Minn./Wayzata H.S.) allowed six earned runs on five hits for his fourth loss of the season.
The Braves (11-21) will return to Missouri Valley Conference play this weekend with a three-game series at Evansville. Game one is schedule for Friday, April 23 at 6 p.m.
