Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PEORIA, Ill. -- Bradley jumped out to 1-0 leads in both games, but Northern Iowa's Courtney Dunker hit homers in the third inning of both games to help power the Panthers to 10-2 and 9-2 wins Thursday at Laura Bradley Park.  Freshman Taylor Cox (Loveland, Colo./Andover [Kan.]) scored all four of BU's runs on the afternoon and was 2-for-3 with four walks to lead Bradley in the two games.

Cox opened the game with a leadoff walk in the opener and reached base safely in each of her first six plate appearances on the day.  After Cox moved to second on a sacrifice bunt, she came around to score on a double to left center by Kate Singler (Witt, Ill./Nokomis/Heartland) to give Bradley (11-21 overall, 2-8 MVC) an early 1-0 lead.

Northern Iowa (19-14 overall, 6-3 MVC) left the bases loaded in the second inning, but broke the game open in the third.  Livi Abney was hit by a pitch to load the bases after a Bradley error and walk to open the inning.  Dunker cleared the bases with a one-out grand slam that sailed over the left field fence to give the Panthers a 4-1 lead.

UNI added two more runs in the fourth on an RBI single by Mackenzie Daigh and a double steal to push the advantage to 6-1.

The Panthers had runners at first and third with two outs in the top of the fifth inning when Megan Machovec drove in a run with a single off the shin of Bradley pitcher Brandi Ore (Versailles, Ky./Paul Laurence Dunbar).  Daigh drove in her second and third runs of the contest with a double to right center and a Bradley error led to another run to give UNI a 10-1 lead.

Bradley got one run back in the bottom of the fifth to pull to within 10-2.  Cox drew her third walk of the game to leadoff the inning and moved to second on a groundout.  Singler ripped her team-leading sixth double of the year down the left field line to plate Cox, but UNI hurler Jen Larsen struck out the next batter to close out a 10-2 Northern Iowa victory.

Larsen improved to 11-4 on the year with the win, striking out three and giving up five hits in five innings.  Senior Amanda Clack (Hillsboro, Mo./Hillsboro) took the loss in the circle for BU to fall to 7-6.  Clack struck out three and walked one in two and two-third innings of work.

Just like the first game, Cox helped Bradley jump out to an early 1-0 lead after drawing a leadoff walk in the bottom of the first .  She moved to third on a wild pitch and sacrifice bunt and later scored on a single by junior Brittany Fairbairn (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard East/Kankakee).

Junior Katie Dennis (Gilbert, Ariz./Mesquite) retired the first six batters she faced before Dunker opened the third inning with a line-drive homer to right center to tie the game at 1-1.

Cox singled to start the third inning and Fairbairn drove her in from third with a single up the middle to put the Braves back in front 2-1.

Dennis retired the next seven batters she faced after the Dunker homer, until Eranne Daugharthy had a one-out single in the fifth inning.  Dunker followed with a single and pinch runner Samantha Waters later scored on a Bradley error to tie the game at 2-2.

Two Bradley errors in the sixth helped lead to four UNI runs in the sixth as the Panthers took a 6-2 lead.  The first two hitters reached base and Abney followed with an RBI single to left field to chase Dennis from the contest.  Kim Washholder drove in two more runs with a single to center field and pinch hitter Lindsay Callanan capped the scoring with an RBI groundout.

UNI added three more runs in the seventh inning to put the game out of reach.  Abney had a one-out, two-run single to left center after Machovec singled and Daigh doubled to open the frame.  Bradley's fourth error in the game later in the inning led to another UNI run as the Panthers pushed the lead to 9-2.

Melissa Tillett picked up the victory for UNI, improving to 4-9 on the season.  Dennis fell to 2-5 on the season with the loss, striking out two and walking none in five innings.

Bradley returns to action Saturday when the Braves open a three-game Missouri Valley Conference series with a noon doubleheader at Missouri State.
