Box Score
LAKELAND, Fla. - Senior centerfielder Brian Martin paced Bradley's 19-hit attack by going 4-for-5 with two runs scored and three runs batted in, leading the Braves (12-6) to an 8-5 victory versus Butler (7-8) Saturday morning at Henley Field in the final day of the RussMatt Baseball 2011 Central Florida Invitational.
Bradley fashioned a 6-2 record during the round-robin event by starting and ending its participation with 3-game winning streaks.
Senior left-hander Eric Holmes (2-0) earned the pitching win for the Braves by allowing two runs on five hits in his 5.0 innings of work.
Martin finished a double shy of hitting for the cycle, but elected not to try and stretch his 9th-inning gap single into the needed 2-bagger. He opened the game with a leadoff home run, added an RBI triple in the fifth and a single in the seventh before his RBI single in the ninth.
Third baseman Rob Elliott followed Martin's fifth-inning triple with an RBI single to put the Braves on top for good, 3-2.
Bradley knocked out a season-best 19 hits, including five doubles, and the Braves also moved their runners with five sacrifice bunts. Brad Kimball and Jerrod Eigsti both went 3-for-4, while Jason Leblebijian (2-for-5), Derek Sprout (2-for-4) and Bob Schuch (2-for-3) all added two hits.
The Braves will play their 19th game away from home Wednesday (6 p.m.) when they visit SIU Edwardsville before hosting their first home games of the 2011 season Friday (5 p.m.) and Saturday (1 p.m.) versus Purdue at O'Brien Field.
