Box Score

AKRON, Ohio -- Sophomore Amy Angelos (Waukegan, Ill./Waukegan) had a match-high 11 kills and career-best five aces, while freshman Madison Kamp (Orland Park, Ill./Chicago Christian) recorded her first career double-double to help power Bradley to a four-set victory against St. Francis (Pa.) Saturday in BU's final match at the Akron Invitational.

Six Bradley (4-2 overall) players recorded six or more kills, paced by Angelos' 11 kills and Ohio native Madelyn Ervin (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy) added 10 kills to help lead the Braves.  Angelos and Kamp were both named to the Akron Invitational all-tournament team.

St. Francis (1-6 overall) came out hot, hitting .312 in the opening set and jumped out to an early lead in the match behind a 25-21 set-one win.

Bradley trailed most of the second set, before rallying for a 25-21 victory to even the match at one set each.  With the score knotted at 20-20, Ervin highlighted a 5-1 BU run with two kills and a block to close out the frame.

Ervin sparked a six-point BU spurt with a kill and Angelos followed with one of her career-best five aces to help Bradley break open the set and build a 17-9 advantage.  The six consecutive points by the Braves started a 13-4 BU run and the Braves hit .333 in the frame en route to a 25-14 victory.

Bradley led by as many as five points (21-16) in the fourth set, but had to hold off a late St. Francis rally before claiming a 26-24 win.  Logan Meinert served up two aces during a 6-0 Red Flash run, which put St. Francis in front 22-21.  The Red Flash later held set point at 24-23 when Ervin tied it up at 24-24 with a kill.  A St. Francis attack error gave the Braves a 25-24 advantage and freshman Courtney Keefe (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) closed out the match with her sixth kill of the afternoon.

Angelos hit .409 in the match and collected 11 kills, five aces and three blocks, while Ervin finished with a season-best 10 kills.  Kamp turned in the first double-double of the season, tallying 36 assists and 10 digs to go along with a season-best six kills.

Sophomore Alise Tupururitis (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) had seven kills, while Keefe and senior Megan Schmidt (Bloomington, Ill./Central Catholic) both added six kills.  Senior Genevieve Dejean (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) highlighted the BU defensive efforts with a season-best 15 digs.

Elizabeth Williams paced St. Francis with 10 kills and was one of four Red Flash players with eight or more kills in the contest.  Amanda Zahumensky paced St. Francis with 13 digs.

Bradley returns to action next weekend, traveling to Conway, S.C., for the Coastal Carolina Invitational.  The Braves face Iona Friday at 11 a.m. (CDT) and tournament-host Coastal Carolina later that day at 5 p.m. (CDT).  BU closes out tournament play Saturday at 10 a.m. (CDT) against Gardner-Webb.
