Box Score DES MOINES, Iowa -- Senior Madelyn Ervin (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy) turned in a season-best 13 kills and junior Lauren Zerante (Elmhurst, Ill./York) collected a career-best 31 digs, but Drake had five players reach double figures in kills as the Bulldogs topped the Braves 26-24, 24-26, 22-25, 25-22, 15-10 Friday at the Knapp Center.
Zerante's 31 digs were the most by a Bradley player since 2008 and tied for the sixth most digs in a match in school history. Ervin added a season-best 13 kills and boasted a .464 hitting percentage to help highlight the Braves' offensive efforts.
After the teams split the first two sets by the identical scores of 26-24, Bradley (6-11 overall, 0-6 MVC) took the third set 25-22 to take a two-sets-to-one lead. Junior Amy Angelos (Waukegan, Ill./Waukegan) highlighted a 5-0 BU run with two kills and a pair of block assists to put her squad ahead 20-13. Zerante tallied 13 of her career-best 31 digs in the third set to help the Braves take the set.
The fourth set featured two lead changes and seven ties before Drake (2-14, 1-5 MVC) used a late push to force a fifth and deciding set with a 25-22 victory. After Bradley pulled even at 22-22 on a Drake attack error, Cassie Effken notched consecutive kills to open a 3-0 Bulldog run as DU went on to pull even in the match with the win.
Bradley built a 6-4 lead in the fifth set, before Drake answered with an 8-1 run. Jadranka Tramoslianin opened the Bulldog run with back-to-back kills as Drake went ahead 12-7. The Bulldogs went on to take the fifth set 15-10, hitting .455 in the frame.
Ervin had a team and season-best 13 kills to lead Bradley. Junior Alise Tupuritis (Des Plaines, Ill./Maine West) added 11 kills and sophomore Courtney Keefe (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) had 10 kills and 11 digs for her first double-double of the year. Sophomore Madison Kamp (Orland Park, Ill./Chicago Christian) turned in her eighth double-double of the year, finishing with 27 assists and 12 digs.
Bentley Mancini was one of five Drake players to reach double figures in kills, recording a match-high 18 kills. Effken collected 16 kills and Sarah Madden added a match-high 34 digs to help lead the Bulldogs.
Bradley closes out a two-match Valley road swing Saturday with a 5 p.m. match at Creighton.
