PEORIA, Ill. -- Senior pitcher Justin Ziegler (Lenexa, Kan./Olathe Northwest) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week announced Wednesday after the longest start of his career last week at Wichita State.
Playing in his home state, Ziegler gave up just four hits over eight complete innings of work against the Shockers in the longest outing of his collegiate career. He struck out five and did not allow a walk with only one Wichita State runner reaching second base in the first seven innings on the contest. A graphic design major, Ziegler owns a 3.01 cumulative grade point average.
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week. The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.
Ziegler and the Braves close out the 2012 regular season Thursday (6 p.m.), Friday (6 p.m.) and Saturday (1 p.m.) with a home series against Dallas Baptist at O'Brien Field.
