Box Score CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Austin McBroom scored a career-high 26 points, capped by the game-winning 3-pointer with 7.4 seconds remaining, lifting Saint Louis (4-2) to a 60-57 win against Bradley (2-4) in the consolation game of the Corpus Christi Coastal Classic Saturday at American Bank Arena.
Freshman Josh Cunningham had pulled Bradley into a 57-57 tie by draining a corner trey of his own with 40.6 seconds left. After a Bradley timeout, McBroom dribbled the shot clock down, then worked over a ball screen at the top of the key and fired a 22-footer from the left wing for his sixth trey of the game.
Bradley dominated the glass with a 38-21 rebounding advantage and the Braves equalled their season-high with nine 3-pointers, but 19 turnovers, including 12 in the second half, proved to be too much to overcome.
Warren Jones came off the bench to lead the Braves with 17 points. Auston Barnes, who earned a spot on the all-tournament team, added 12 points and nine rebounds, while Cunningham chipped in 11 points and seven boards.
McBroom led three Billikens in double-figures as his 26 points were supported by 10 each from Brett Jolly and Milik Yarbrough. While McBroom's final trey goes down as the game-winner, his first trey may have proved more significant, a banked in shot from the right win to beat the shot clock for Saint Louis' first points of the game.
Bradley will return home to host Central Michigan in its only on-campus game of the season, a 7:05 p.m. tip Tuesday at Renaissance Coliseum. While part of the season-ticket package, tickets for Tuesday's game are available for $15 each or as part of the $50 Coliseum 4-Pack - four tickets, four hot dogs and four drinks.
