PEORIA, Ill. – Bradley had the leadoff hitter on base six times, but Iowa pitchers held the Braves to three hits through the first seven frames and the Hawkeyes capitalized on Bradley miscues to top BU 6-2 Wednesday night at Dozer Park.

Bradley (15-9 overall) had a five-game non-conference win streak snapped with the loss as four BU pitchers combined to strike out 11 in the setback.

Four Iowa (16-9 overall) hurlers limited the Braves to just three hits through the first seven innings and carried a shutout into the eighth before Bradley finally got on the scoreboard.  Isaac Smith singled to open the bottom of the eighth and pinch hitter Paul Solka was hit by a pitch to chase Hawkeye reliever Brandon Shulista from the contest.  Smith scored from second on a hard-hit ball down the left field line by Max Murphy and Solka later scored on a single off the bat of Tyler Leffler as Bradley trimmed the Iowa lead to 6-2.

The Hawkeyes scored four unearned runs on four Bradley errors to take a 6-0 advantage.  A two-out error extended the top of the second for Iowa and Eric Toole gave the Hawkeyes a 2-0 lead with a two-run single to center.

In the third, Iowa had the bases loaded after a trio of walks and added a run on a dropped sacrifice fly.  The Hawkeyes lead was 4-0 after another sacrifice fly later in the inning.

Toole led off the Iowa seventh with a single and came around to score on a double by Jake Mangler to make it 5-0 in favor of the Hawkeyes.  After Bradley's fourth error of the game, Iowa scored another unearned run on the third sacrifice fly of the contest for the Hawkeyes as the Braves trailed 6-0 heading into the final two frames.

Evan Gruener drew his second walk of the night to lead off the bottom of the ninth for Bradley as the Braves had the leadoff hitter reach base for the sixth time.  Gruener advanced to second on the third Iowa wild pitch of the night, but Tyler Radtke retired the next three batters he faced to close out the 6-2 Iowa victory.

David Koll struck out seven and gave up just three hits in six innings of work in the start for Bradley, but took the loss to fall to 2-3 on the year.  Jared Mandel was credited with the victory for the Hawkeyes to improve to 1-0 on the year after holding Bradley hitless in two innings out of the bullpen.

Bradley opens a three-game series at Missouri Valley Conference foe Southern Illinois Friday with a 6:30 p.m. game in Carbondale, Ill.
