KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Led by four team members who earned a spot on the 2014 NABC Honors Court, Bradley was one of 29 NCAA Division I men's basketball teams to earn the NABC 2013-14 Team Academic Excellence Award, according to an announcement from the coaching organization Wednesday.
The National Association of Basketball Coaches Wednesday announced the second annual Team Academic Excellence Awards, which was created by the NABC Committee on Academics, recognizing more than 125 college and university men's basketball member institutions in all divisions with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2013-14 season. The Braves completed the 2014 Spring semester with a 3.098 cumulative team grade point average and have maintained a team cumulative GPA better than 3.0 for each of the last six semesters. Northern Iowa is the only other Missouri Valley Conference school to earn a 2013-14 NABC Team Academic Excellence Award and Bradley is the only one of the 28 NCAA Division I men's basketball teams from Illinois (13) and the bordering states of Missouri (5) and Indiana (10) to earn the recognition this year.
Individually, Mason Alwan (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods H.S.), Walt Lemon Jr. (Chicago, Ill./Julian H.S.), Tyshon Pickett (Passaic, N.J./Passaic H.S.) and Nate Wells (Davenport, Iowa/Davenport West H.S.) all qualified for the 2013-14 NABC Honors Court.
