Box Score

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Junior guard Anthony Fields was one of four Braves to score in double-figures with a career-high 11 points, but Indiana State (11-11, 7-3 MVC) survived a tough test from a short-handed Bradley squad, 64-58, Saturday afternoon at Hulman Center.

The Sycamores bagged 6-of-8 3-point field goal attempts in the first 6-minutes, 54-seconds of the second half to take the lead for good. Bradley, which was playing without three guards who are among the team's top six scorers, used a 13-0 run early in the first half to build a 13-4 lead and the Braves took a 26-23 lead into halftime before the hosts took control with their long-range barrage to start the second half.

Indiana State's hot start to the second half contrasted its first-half effort, when the Sycamores shot just 24.1 percent (7-29) from the field, including a cool 3-for-13 (.231) from beyond the arc.

Both teams finished the game shooting 39 percent from the field, but an 18-7 foul differential allowed Indiana State an 8-point margin at the free throw line. In fact, the Sycamores went 24-minutes, 36-seconds of game time between their fourth, and final, foul of the first half with 5:19 left in the period and their first foul of the second half with 43 seconds remaining in the game.

Bradley junior guard Tramique Sutherland scored a game-high 17 points, while Auston Barnes and Josh Cunningham both joined Fields with 11-point efforts. Cunningham also snared a game-high nine rebounds.

Brenton Scott led four Indiana State players in double figures with 13 points, while adding five rebounds, five assists and three steals. Devonte Brown added 12 points, Tre Benne chipped in 11 off the bench and Justin Gant added 10.

Bradley will return to action Wednesday when the Braves host #12 Wichita State in a 7 p.m. Missouri Valley Confenrence clash at Carver Arena. Wednesday's game will be preceded by a Braves Club Game Day Lunchone, presented by Herget Bank, which will feature Bradley head coach Geno Ford and Shockers head coach Gregg Marshall, the reigning NCAA Division I men's basketball coach of the year.
