DES MOINES - Reed Timmer scored a game-high 19 points and Drake (8-17, 5-8 MVC) held off visiting Bradley (8-8, 3-10 MVC) for a 60-54 Missouri Valley Conference win Wednesday night at Drake Knapp Center.

Bradley attempted 21 more field goal attempts than the hosts and allowed only one offensive rebound, but the Bulldogs cashed in on their lone second-chance opportunity when Timmer buried the go-ahead 3-pointer with 2:11 remaining after rebounding a Gary Ricks, Jr. jumper.

Bradley guard Ka'Darryl Bell had made consecutive 3-pointers for his only points of the night to give Bradley a 51-48 lead with 5:19 left, but the Braves did not make another field goal (0-for-7) the rest of the game.

Bradley finished the game 20-for-58 (.345) from the field, 8-for-26 (.308) from beyond the arc and 6-for-7 from the free throw line. Drake ended the night 18-for-37 (.486) from the field, 10-for-18 (.556) from beyond the 3-point line and 14-for-14 from the free throw line. Although Bradley corralled 12 offensive rebounds, the Braves scored just 10 second-chance points. Bradley also committed just five turnovers, equalling the team's third-lowest total in the shot clock era (since 1986-87).

Tramique Sutherland led the Braves with 17 points and five assists, while Auston Barnes chipped in 13 points. Josh Cunningham snared 10 rebounds for his eighth double-digit board total of the season and moved into fifth place on the school's all-time list for rebounds by a freshman (194).

Ricks was the game's only other double-digit scorer, finishing with 12 points for the Bulldogs.

Bradley will play its next two games at home, beginning with a Sunday afternoon (1 p.m.) visit from Loyola Chicago. Bradley will celebrate gargoyle mascot Kaboom!'s first birthday and fans can receive half-priced tickets by donating items for the Children's Home Baby Beginnings Project during the pregame birthday party in the Peoria Civic Center Great Hall Lobby. The party, which will feature a bounce house, face painting, The Unique Twist balloon artist and a Team Bradley coloring station, will begin at 11 o'clock and Kaboom!'s Korner will remain open through halftime.
