Box Score CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - Northern Iowa extended its winning streak to 15 games with a 56-39 win against Bradley (8-21, 3-13 MVC) Saturday afternoon at McLeod Center.
Bradley flustered the Panthers (26-2, 15-1 MVC) in the first half with a diamond-and-1 defense on Valley Player-of-the-Year candidate Seth Tuttle and the Braves went into the lockerroom trailing by just four, 27-23.
Bradley started the second half cold, however, making just 3-of-16 shots to start the half and the Panthers took advantage by gradually pushing their lead to as many as 19 points, 49-30, on a Matt Bohannon 3-pointer with 7:43 left to play. Tramique Sutherland ended an 11-0 UNI run with a deep 3-pointer with 7:18 remaining.
Bradley's 37 points was the team's second-lowest scoring output of the shot clock era, topped only by a 51-37 loss at Missouri State Jan. 27, 1992. Ka'Darryl Bell, Josh Cunningham and Nate Wells all paced the Braves with six points.
Wes Washpun and Nate Buss each led the Panthers with 11 points
Bradley will play its final road game of the season Wednesday, visiting Missouri State for a 7 p.m. game at JQH Arena that will be broadcast in the Central Illinois TV market on WAOE (my59).
