Box Score PEORIA, Ill. - Khristian Smith scored a game-high 16 points, including a 3-pointer with 5:18 left to put Indiana State in front for good, leading the visiting Sycamores to a 60-52 Missouri Valley Conference win at Bradley Saturday afternoon at Carver Arena.
The Braves were within 52-50 after two Auston Barnes free throws with 2:46 left and the senior forward got a steal to trigger a Bradley fast break on the ensuing possession, but Warren Jones missed the contested layup and the Sycamores scored the next six points to seal the win.
Jones led the Braves with 12 points, including six straight on a 3-pointer and an old-fashioned 3-point play on consecutive possessions to give the Braves their last lead, 47-46, with 5:52 left.
Freshman Donte Thomas turned in his best game as a Brave with career-bests of nine points and nine rebounds. Freshman forward Josh Cunningham added eight rebounds, pushing his total to 235 on the season, the most by a first-year Brave since Illinois transfer Steve Kuberski snared 263 boards in 1968-69.
Devonte Brown finished with a double-double, 10 points and 10 rebounds, for the Sycamores and Indiana State forward Justin Gant chipped in 10 points for the visitors.
Bradley must await the outcome of the Drake-at-Southern Illinois game this afternoon to learn its final seed for next week's Missouri Valley Conference Men's Basketball Championship. The Braves will be the No. 9 seed and face No. 8 seed Missouri State if the Bulldogs win in Carbondale. Bradley will be the No. 10 seed and face No. 7 seed Drake if the host Salukis prevail.
