ANOTHER WEEK, ANOTHER ROAD TRIP | RELATED VIDEO
Off to its best start since 1996, the Bradley Baseball team hits the road for the fifth consecutive weekend and a 3-game series against first-time opponent Mercer ... Bradley's 11-2 mark is the team's best record after 13 games since the 1996 Braves also started 11-2 en route to a 40-22 final ledger ... Following this weekend's series at Mercer, Bradley will remain on the road for at least three more games next weekend at North Florida (the Braves are expected to alter their midweek schedule in Florida during their annual spring break trip).
SERIES NOTES
First Series Games
Bradley and Mercer will meet on the diamond for the first time this weekend ... In fact, not only will this weekend's series be the first-ever baseball games between Bradley and Mercer, but they will be Bradley's first-ever games against any of the Southern Conference's nine current members - The Citadel, East Tennessee State, Furman, North Carolina-Greensboro, Samford, VMI, Western Carolina and Wofford.
The Soccer Connection
Although Bradley and Mercer do not have a baseball history, the two schools do have an athletics connection ... Sixth-year Mercer men's soccer head coach Brad Ruzzo joined the Bears following an 8-year stint on the Bradley Soccer coaching staff, helping the Braves to four NCAA Tournaments, three Missouri Valley Conference regular-season championships and a MVC Tournament title ... The Mercer Soccer staff also includes assistant coach Matt Kuehl, who played at Bradley from 2011-12, helping the Braves reach the second round of the 2011 NCAA Tournament.
