With 17 wins already under the team's belt, Bradley Baseball will simultaneously open its home and Missouri Valley Conference schedules this weekend when the Braves (17-5) welcome Southern Illinois (4-19) for a 3-game series at Dozer Park ... Bradley's 17 win are the most before its home opener in the 115-year history of the program and the road success has helped the Braves climb to No. 3 in the RPI ... The 17 wins to date also are the most before playing the Valley opener since 2011 (18-9).

Southern Illinois leads 84-70-1 since 1952
With series records dating to 1952, Southern Illinois owns an 84-70-1 lead in the all-time series against the Braves ... Bradley won the 2014 series, 2-games-to-1, spoiling SIU's first-ever home night game with a 7-4 victory to open the series ... The last time the Salukis visited Peoria, Southern Illinois left town with a 3-game sweep in 2013 ... Baseball Vs. Cancer
Like many college baseball teams across the country, Bradley Baseball is participating in a fundraising effort to benefit the Vs. Cancer Foundation and Children's Hospital of Illinois ... Soliciting donations through the Vs. Cancer Foundation, Bradley's players have generated $7,815 in donations toward a goal of $10,000 and the Braves currently rank seventh among the 62 teams taking part in the effort ... Adding to the effort to raise awareness in the fight against childhood cancer, the Braves will shave their heads immediately following Saturday's game against the Salukis ...
