Box Score ST. LOUIS - Tramique Sutherland made two free throws with 2.7 seconds left in overtime, lifting No. 10 seed Bradley (9-23) to a 52-50 win against No. 7 seed Drake (9-22) in the second game of the Missouri Valley Conference Men's Basketball Championship Thursday night at Scottrade Center.
Bradley's lone senior, forward Auston Barnes, hit a 3-pointer in transition with 1:08 remaining in overtime to give the Braves a 50-47 lead. Chris Caird converted a driving baseline layup to get the Bulldogs within 50-49 with 49 seconds left. Barnes missed a jumper in the lane on Bradley's next possession and Braves forward Josh Cunningham was whistled for a foul on the rebound attempt.
After Jacob Enevold had successfully converted all of Drake's first 14 free throw attempts of the game, Trevor Berkeley split two charity attempts after the Cunningham foul with 16 seconds remaining. As Bradley worked the clock down for a last shot, Sutherland was fouled driving toward the right wing and he buried both free throw attempts for the deciding points.
Enevold finished with a double-double on game-highs of 24 points, 12 rebounds and four blocked shots. Gary Ricks chipped in 10 points for the Bulldogs.
Bradley center Nate Wells matched his career-highs with 10 points, six rebounds and four rejections of his own. Barnes added 13 points, including a 3-for-6 effort from beyond the arc.
Bradley advances to the quarterfinal round and will take on second-seeded and 11th-ranked Northern Iowa (27-3) in the third game of the day Friday, a 6:05 p.m. tip at Scottrade Center. Televised on the MVC-TV Network, Friday's Bradley-UNI quarterfinal will air live in the Central Illinois market on FOX Sports Midwest, but will be tape-delayed on Comcast SportsNet Chicago.
