PEORIA, Ill. -- Junior Elliot Ashbeck (Marshfield, Wis./Marshfield) has been named the Bradley Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after picking up his team-best 10th victory of the year last week.

Ashbeck improved to 10-3 in 2015 by earning the victory in Saturday's 7-3 win against Illinois State to become just the fourth pitcher in Bradley history with 10 or more victories in a season and first since Doug Robertson (12) in 1996.  He struck out eight and walked two in seven innings of work against the Redbirds.  As Bradley's designated hitter in the final two games of the weekend, Ashbeck roped his 10th double of the year in Saturday's night cap, then drew a walk and executed a sacrifice bunt in Sunday's series finale.  A business management and administration major, he owns a 3.25 cumulative grade point average. 
 
Each week, a Bradley student-athlete is selected as the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week.  The individual chosen must be at least a sophomore in class standing and boast a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while displaying a level of athletic excellence.

Ashbeck and the Bradley baseball team close out the 2015 regular season with a three-game series at 10th-ranked Missouri State, opening the set Thursday with a 6:35 p.m. game at Hammons Field in Springfield, Mo.
