Nine Braves were honored for their work off the track on Wednesday, earning a spot on the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Teams.

Seniors Caleb Beck and Patrick Campbell, juniors Haran Dunderdale, Taylor Floyd Mews, Daniel Gagne and Michael Ward and sophomores Will Anderson and David Shadid were named to the team on the men's side, while sophomore Sara Piller earned a spot on the women's team.

The eight honorees for the men's team is a new school record, topping the previous high of five set last season, while five of the nine Braves earned the honor during both the indoor and outdoor championship.

To earn a spot on the MVC Scholar-Athlete Teams, a student-athlete must place in the top eight of an individual event or the top three of a relay at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship and hold at least a cumulative 3.2 grade point average, while being a sophomore in both athletic and academic standing.

Beck, who owns a 3.44 GPA in civil engineering, earned scholar-athlete honors for the third-straight season, finishing among the top eight in the indoor 5,000m run and the outdoor 10,000m run.

A four-time All-MVC honoree during track season this season, Campbell collected the scholar-athlete accolades at the indoor championship in the 3,000m and 5,000m, while repeating the feat in the 5,000m and 10,000m at the outdoor championship. A political science major with a 3.70 grade point average, Campbell was named a scholar-athlete for the second-straight season in track

The program's first individual indoor champion in 34 years, Dunderdale received the honor during the indoor season after earning titles in the mile run as well as the distance medley relay. The junior is majoring in finance with a 3.33 GPA and was named to the team for a second-straight year.

Gagne joined Dunderdale on the All-MVC Scholar-Athlete Team as part of the distance medley relay champions in addition to the mile run during the indoor season. He also was named to the team during the outdoor campaign after a second-place finish in the 1,500m run. An accounting major with a 3.64 grade point average, he received the accolade for the third-straight season.

Ward, a biochemistry major with a 3.78 GPA, was another repeat honoree for BU, receiving the accolade in the 5,000m at the MVC Outdoor Championship.

The remaining three BU men each earned All-MVC Scholar-Athlete Team recognition for the first time in track. Anderson, who maintains a perfect 4.00 GPA in electrical engineering, finished among the top eight at the indoor 5,000m run. Floyd Mews picked up the accolade in the indoor mile and the outdoor 1,500m with a 3.23 GPA in computer information systems. Shadid then wraps up the honorees with a 3.69 GPA in accounting, while helping the Braves to the DMR title at the indoor championship and placing in the top eight in the 400m dash at the outdoor championship.

Piller was the lone BU woman to be named to the All-MVC Scholar-Athlete Team. She received the honor after scoring in the 5,000m run at the indoor championship to go along with her 3.81 GPA as a nursing major.

The Braves are back in action this weekend at the NCAA West Preliminaries. The regional meet begins on Thursday on the campus of the University of Texas.
