After sweeping the 2018 Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country Championships, the Bradley men's and women's teams combined for nine MVC Scholar-Athlete honorees, tying the conference record.

Six student-athletes on the Bradley men's cross country team earned the honor for work on and off the course, tying a conference record for a single team (2004 Southern Illinois women, 2008 Indiana State men and 2013 Southern Illinois women). The Bradley women's team added three honorees as Bradley nine total selections tied Indiana State's record set in 2009.

Seniors Haran Dunderdale and Michael Ward, juniors Will Anderson, Jake Hoffert and Luke Hoffert and sophomore Alec Hartman all collected the honor for the BU men, while senior Brooke Nusser and juniors Abby Jockisch and Gabby Juarez earned the accolade for the women.

To earn a spot on the conference's Scholar-Athlete Teams, a student-athlete must finish among the first 20 runners at the conference championship and hold at least a cumulative 3.2 grade point average, while being a sophomore in both athletic and academic standing.

Ward led the Braves to their fourth-straight MVC Championship on Saturday – a first in the Valley since 1983 – with a second-place overall finish. It marks the third Scholar-Athlete honors for the senior, while Dunderdale and Jake Hoffert each collected the accolade for a second time.

Jockisch earned the honor for the second time in her career with both Juarez and Nusser receiving it for the first time. Juarez was also named the Elite 17 Award Winner at Saturday's meet for owning the top grade point average by a first-team all-conference honoree, finishing third as Bradley won its fourth championship in five years and maintaining a 3.73 GPA.

The Braves continue their campaign in less than two weeks right back at Newman Golf Course with the NCAA Midwest Regional Championship. The top teams from nine states in the region will run with bids for the NCAA Championship on the line on Friday, Nov. 9, beginning at 11 a.m.
