Game 1:  Bradley 5, at Valparaiso 4
Game 2:  at Valparaiso 5, Bradley 2 – 10 innings

VALPARAISO, IN – The first-ever Missouri Valley Conference games in Valparaiso history were decided by late-innings dramatics.  After taking the opening game of a double header with a ninth-inning rally, Bradley (13-7, 1-1 MVC) suffered its second walk-off loss in three games in the night cap of Friday's doubleheader against the Crusaders (8-15, 1-1 MVC).

Brendan Dougherty drove home the winning run with a 2-out, RBI single in the ninth inning, lifting the Braves to a 5-4 win in Friday's opening game, but Jack Leone hit a 3-run home run in the bottom of the 10th of the night cap to give Valparaiso a 5-2 victory.  The 3-run walk off homer comes two days after Iowa hit a 9th-inning grand slam for a 13-9 victory Wednesday.

Game 1 Recap
Bradley rallied for two runs in the top of the ninth and Matthew Richey slammed the door in the bottom of the inning as the Braves rallied for a 5-4 victory in Friday's series opener.

After Valparaiso scored the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth, Luke Mangieri started Bradley's 9th-inning rally with a 1-out single.  Andrew Ivelia followed with a double run-scoring double and he scored the game-winner on Brendan Dougherty's 2-out single.

Mangieri and Dougherty both finished 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Bradley's 12-hit attack.  Ivelia and Dougherty each drove in two.

Bradley starter Cole Cook recovered from a rocky first inning to turn in seven strong innings, allowing three runs, two earned, on seven hits with a walk and four strikeouts.  Despite allowing the tying run in the eighth inning, Richey (1-0) picked up the win after blowing through the Crusaders lineup in a perfect ninth.

Game 2 Recap
Sophomore right-hander Ryan Hodgett took a no-hitter into the fifth inning, but the Braves were not able to build on a 2-0 lead through seven innings.

Giovanni Garbella pulled Valparaiso into a 2-2 tie by coming through with a 2-run double in the eighth inning.  The Braves could not take advantage of a pair of ninth-inning walks and stranded four runners in the eighth (1), ninth (2) and 10th (1) innings.

Mangieri and Ivelia both went 2-for-5 for the Braves.

The teams played a doubleheader Friday in an effort to beat Saturday's rain forecast and now have two days to complete the series finale, which is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. Saturday.
