Bobby Parker, Associate AD for Communications Baseball 6/18/2018 10:48:00 AM
Aided by Bradley teammates Brendan Dougherty and Luke Shadid, the Morehead City Marlins begin the week leading the Coastal Plain League East Division with an 11-3 (.786) record.  While the Marlins pace the CPL with their league-best record, Bradley reliever Brian Schrimmer continues to mow down the opposition in the Northwoods League, just a couple of the highlights in today's Bradley Baseball Summer Update.

Bradley Braves in Summer Collegiate Leagues
Kyle Antos, C, Paducah Chiefs (Ohio Valley League)
9 GP, .265, 1 HR, 5 RBI
Antos capped his week by going 2-for-4 with his first summer home run in Sunday's 11-9 loss against Owensboro.  Behind the plate, Antos has thrown out 8-of-22 (.364) runners trying to steal against him.

Cole Cook, LHP, Anchorage Glacier Pilots (Alaska Baseball League)
3 App., 1.44 ERA, 1-1, 0 Sv
In his only appearance of the week, Cook suffered a tough loss in Sunday's 9-3 setback at the Anchorage Bucs.  Although he was tagged for seven runs on six hits in his 6.2 innings, only one of the runs was earned.  The Bucs rallied for eight unearned runs in the seventh inning after a dropped fly ball in the outfield opened the door in what would have otherwise been a scoreless frame.  Through the first two weeks of the season, Cook leads the Alaska Baseball League with 19 strikeouts.

Brendan Dougherty, 3B, Morehead City Marlins (Coastal Plain League)
14 GP, .125, 2 HR, 10 RBI
Dougherty extended his streak of consecutive games with at least one RBI to seven, while helping the Marlins to a 6-3 win in the opening game of Saturday's doubleheader sweep at Wilmington.  Although his batting average has dropped to .125 by going 0-for-11 in his last three games, Dougherty drew his 11th walk in 14 games in Saturday's nightcap.  He leads the Marlins in both RBI's and walks, ranking tied for 11th and tied for sixth, respectively, among the Coastal Plain League leaders to start the week.

Isaiah Glidden, RHP, Paducah Chiefs (Ohio Valley League)
6 App., 2.25 ERA, 0-1, 0 Sv
Glidden worked a season-high 4.0 innings in Sunday's 11-9 loss against Owensboro, allowing four runs, two earned, on four hits with four walks.  In his 12.0 innings to date this season, Glidden has struck out 12 and allowed just eight hits, but he has been hampered by 13 walks.

Brooks Gosswein, LHP, Springfield Sliders (Prospect League)
3 App., 4.09 ERA, 0-1, 0 Sv
Gosswein made his second start of the summer Friday and delivered 5.0 strong innings in Springfield's eventual 7-4 victory.  Although he was not the pitcher of record, Gosswein limited Terre Haute to two runs, one earned, on five hits while striking out a season-best seven.

Ryan Hodgett, RHP, Anchorage Glacier Pilots (Alaska Baseball League)
3 App., 14.40 ERA, 0-0, 1 Sv
In his only appearance of the week, Hodgett allowed four runs, two earned, on four hits in his 2.0 innings of relief Wednesday against the Anchorage Bucs.

Eli Rawlinson, OF, Anchorage Glacier Pilots (Alaska Baseball League)
10 GP, .237, 1 HR, 9 RBI
Rawlinson has reached base safely in nine of his first 10 summer games.  Despites going 0-for-3 Sunday, Rawlinson drew a walk for the third consecutive game to extend his reached-base-safely streak to seven games.  Rawlinson begins the week as the Alaska Baseball League's co-leader with nine RBI's in his 10 games and he is one of just four ABL players with a home run through the first two weeks of the season.

Keaton Rice, C, Springfield Sliders (Prospect League)
8 GP, .095, 1 RBI
Despite playing in just eight of his team's first 18 games, Rice is tied for second on the team with 10 walks.  Drawing at least one walk in seven of his eight games this season, Rice has reached base safely at least once in each of his eight games to date, countering his .095 batting average with a .387 on-base percentage.

Brian Schrimmer, RHP, La Crosse Loggers (Northwoods League)
6 App., 0.00 ERA, 0-0, 1 Sv
Schrimmer continues to fan opposing hitters at a dizzying pace.  Working exclusively out of the bullpen, Schrimmer has fanned 12 batters in 7.1 IP, an average of 14.73 strikeouts per nine innings, and he has recorded at least one strikeout in each of his six appearances.  Since allowing two unearned runs on five hits in his season debut June 3, Schrimmer has surrendered only two hits in his last five outings, while striking out 10 in the 6.0 collective innings.

Andy Shadid, OF, Lakeshore Chinooks (Northwoods League)
5 GP, .125, 1 HR, 3 RBI

Shadid was a late addition to the Chinooks roster and has played in five games through the weekend.  He hit his first home run of the summer Sunday, a 3-run blast in the fifth inning of a 12-8 loss to Kalamazoo.

Luke Shadid, IF, Morehead City Marlins (Coastal Plain League)
7 GP, .300, 5 runs
Shadid has appeared in seven games and is batting .300 (6-20) with two doubles and five runs scored.  Aided by his three walks, Shadid is second on the team with a .440 on-base percentage.
