NASHVILLE, TN – Senior Richard Olson (Park Ridge, IL/Maine South H.S.) scored the game-winner in the 68th minute as Bradley Soccer completed a 2-games-in-3-days sweep of its preseason trip to The Volunteer State with a 2-1 exhibition victory at Belmont Saturday afternoon at E.S. Rose Park.

Saturday's result came just two days after the Braves earned a 1-0 victory Thursday at Memphis.  Olson also factored in Thursday's result by assisting Saadiq Mohammed's second-half winner against the Tigers.

Both teams got off to a quick start Saturday:  Bradley opened the scoring in the fourth minute when the Bruins deflected a Younes Dayekh cross for an own goal.  Belmont had the immediate answer, however, playing over the top of the Bradley defense for the tying goal in the fifth minute.

The game settled into the midfield after the quick start, until the Braves began to apply pressure midway through the second half.

After Bradley nearly scored off a corner kick in the 65th minute, Olson netted the go-ahead goal in the 68th minute by finishing off a cross from Matt Perry.  The leading scorer on Bradley's 2016 squad, Olson missed the bulk of last season due to injury, but has returned from the medical redshirt by scoring points in both preseason games.  Perry also registered an assist in the extra-time session Thursday against the Tigers.

Bradley finished the game with an 8-7 advantage in shots on goal.  For the second time in as many preseason games, Bradley split its goalkeeping time between juniors Albert Reinwart and Nathan Wisbey.  After starting Thursday's game, Wisbey came off the bench to play the second 45 minutes Saturday, but needed to make just one save for his half of shutout work between the pipes.  Reinwart stopped five Belmont shots in the opening half.

The Braves will open the 2018 regular season by hosting five of their first six games at Shea Stadium, beginning with a 7 p.m. clash Friday against Gonzaga.  The teams are meeting for a fourth consecutive year and the Bulldogs will visit Shea Stadium for the third time in that stretch.

The home heavy start will continue Aug. 26 (1 p.m.) versus Oral Roberts, Sept. 2 (1 p.m.) for the annual Danny Dahlquist Memorial Game against Princeton, Sept. 7 (7 p.m.) against in-state rival Eastern Illinois in the Bradley Invitational and Sept. 9 (6 p.m.) against Big Ten Conference Tournament champion and preseason nationally-ranked Wisconsin in the final game of the home tournament.

Friday's opener against Gonzaga is being promoted as a Red Out and all fans are encouraged to wear their Bradley Red for the game.
