The Braves cross country teams host the first of four meets during the 2018 campaign with the Bradley Intercollegiate at Detweiller Park on Friday afternoon.

MEET INFO
The women's three-mile run opens the meet at 5 p.m. and will be followed by the men's 8K at 5:45 p.m. The Braves are set to square off with five other Division I schools – Chicago State, Green Bay, Northern Iowa, Valparaiso and Western Illinois – with 16 schools overall running on Friday.

Additionally, Bradley is set to run its full teams for the first time in 2018.

INTERCOLLEGIATE HISTORY
The 32nd running of the Bradley Intercollegiate, the Braves have hosted the meet since 1986.

The Bradley men have claimed the team title each season since 2013, while also featuring the individual champion in each of the last four years. In 2017, Jake Hoffert won his first individual collegiate cross country race en route to a historic season that included becoming the first BU man to win the MVC Championship in 52 years. Hoffert is joined by the 2016 champion, Michael Ward, who is running his first cross country race in two seasons after redshirting the 2017 campaign.

The BU women have matched the men's team with the title every year since 2013 and the last four individual champions. Last season, Natalie Burant crossed the finish line first for BU as Bradley had seven of the top 10 runners in the meet as its 19 points easily cleared the 61 points by second-place Eastern Illinois. In the 2016 race, Bradley finished with a perfect score of 15 points.

LAST TIME OUT
The Bradley men claimed the team title at the 2018 Western Illinois Early Bird Invite, while sophomore Alec Hartman won his first individual title on the cross country course. Overall, the Braves featured eight of the top-10 runners at WIU.

The Bradley women finished tied for first with the host school at 31 points only to lose the tiebreaker to Western Illinois. Kathryn Adelman led BU with a fourth-place finish as Bradley had six of the top-10 runners, overall.

UP NEXT
After a week off, the Braves return to competition at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational. The women's 6K begins at 12:20 p.m. with the men's 8K following at 1 p.m.
