The Bradley cross country teams gained some momentum on Friday heading toward the Missouri Valley Conference Championship in two weeks with a pair of strong performances.

The BU women finished first at the Bradley Pink Classic for the first time in school history, while the men competed in one of the strongest fields in the country at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational with senior Jake Hoffert leading the way by clocking the eighth-best time in school history.

On its home course at Newman Golf Course in Peoria, the Bradley women finished with three of the top six times to win the meet for the first time since it began in 2004. The Braves totaled 67 points during the winning performance – which included five other Valley schools – to finish ahead of runner-up South Dakota, who recorded 103 points.

Sophomore Tyler Schwartz was right behind her teammate and placed third overall with a mark of 21:09.3 – the 10th-best mark at Bradley. Classmate Ayah Aldadah rounded out the trio of top-10 finishes by placing sixth in 21:18.3.

Senior Abby Jockisch and freshman Sophia McDonnell wrapped up the team's top five by placing 26th and 30th in 21:51.1 and 22:00.2, respectively.

At Wisconsin, Hoffert led the Braves at a field that included 17 nationally-ranked schools as the senior placed 59th overall in a time of 24:22.1 Hoffert's time was more than 14 seconds faster than his previous PR at the 8K distance and ranks as the eighth-best time in Bradley's history.

Following Hoffert was a pair of freshmen and seniors. Rookie Matthew Richtman was second on the team with a mark of 24:56.5, while senior Ben Potrykus (25:01.8), freshman Drew Wenger (25:14.7) and senior Luke Hoffert (25:15.7) rounded out the team's top five.
