Hoffert and Aldadah Lead Bradley at Notre Dame

Senior Jake Hoffert and sophomore Ayah Aldadah led the Bradley cross country teams at Notre Dame's Joe Piane Invitational on Friday afternoon, both setting PR times to pace the Braves.

"We were better than we were two weeks ago and we continue to show progress as a young team," said Bradley head coach Darren Gauson. "We are never really that sharp during this week of the season and I have confidence that we will continue to improve in two weeks and then be ready to peak at the conference championship. We have to just stay the course and keep progressing in a positive way."

In a field featuring 11 nationally-ranked schools and a number of collegiate All-Americans, Hoffert placed 28th individually of 165 runners during the men's five-mile race, clocking a time of 23:59.46 – more than 37 seconds faster than his previous best five-mile time.

Redshirt freshman Matthew Richtman was the second-quickest Brave on the day, placing 104th in 24:48.30. Seniors Luke Hoffert and Ben Potrykus and freshman Drew Wenger rounded out the top-five for BU in 24:50.36, 25:00.07 and 25:00.29, respectively.

As a team, the BU men placed 19th – finishing ahead of Belmont, North Carolina and Arizona.

Aldadah led the Bradley women by finishing as the first Brave for the first time during her collegiate career. The sophomore clocked the 10th-best 5K time in school history with a mark of 17:32.73 to finish 88th of 168 runners.

Sophomore Tyler Schwartz wasn't far behind her classmate with a time of 17:43.96 to place 105th, while junior McKenzie Altmayer (17:50.67), senior Abby Jockisch (18:07.37) and senior Gabby Juarez (18:20.95) rounded out the top five for BU.

BU is back in action in two weeks, competing at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational and the Bradley Pink Classic at Newman Golf Course on Oct. 18.
