Weekly Summer Honors for Bradley Soccer

Mikey Conneh and Gerit Wintermeyer Named to Their Respective Summer League Teams of the Week

A pair of Bradley Soccer players earned league Team-of-the-Week recognition this past week, according to social media announcements from their respective leagues. Junior F Gerit Wintermeyer was named to the USL 2 Team of the Week for Week 6, while junior MF Mikey Conneh was tabbed for the Gulf Coast Premier League Team of the Week for Week 5.

In a home-and-home series against Dayton Dutch Lions last week, Wintermeyer assisted all three goals in Chicago FC United's 3-1 win June 3 in Chicago. He came back to score what proved to be the game-winner with a 12th-minute strike in Friday's 3-0 win in the Cincinnati suburbs.

In his five games for Chicago FC United, Bradley's 2018 scoring leader paces his summer team with 13 points on five goals and three assists. Wintermeyer has played a team-high 420 minutes, leading Chicago FC United (12 points, 4-1-0) to the top of the USL Two Central Conference Great Lakes Division standings, despite playing two fewer games than second-place Flint City Bucks (11 points, 3-2-2).

A first-year transfer from Penn State, Conneh played the full 90 minutes for AFC Mobile in Saturday's 4-3 loss to Gulf Coast Rangers, scoring a 13th-minute goal for his summer squad. Suffering its first loss of the season, AFC Mobile (3-1-1) enters Week 6 tied for second in the GCPL Eastern Division standings with 10 points, just one point back of the division-leading Gulf Coast Rangers (3-0-2).

While Conneh and Wintermeyer received official league recognition, Bradley senior GK Nathan Wisbey was recognized as the Man of the Match for his performance in Sunday's Union Dubuque 2-2 draw against Milwaukee Bavarian SC. Though official stats from the match are unavailable, the game recap on the Union Dubuque website notes Wisbey's play both early and late in the match as key to his team hanging in with they typically strong Bavarian side.
