Game Recap: Men's Basketball |
St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands – For the second-straight day, the Bradley men's basketball team lost a tight contest, falling to Brown on Saturday afternoon, 65-62. The Braves are now 1-4 on the season, while the Bears improve to 4-2.

Junior Malevy Leons and freshman Connor Hickman both led the Braves with 11 points apiece. Freshman Zek Montgomery also chipped in nine points – triple his total entering the game. Junior Terry Roberts added eight points and four assists to go with a team-best six rebounds, while graduate student Mikey Howell led the Braves with five assists.

The Braves fought through a first half where foul trouble put the team in a deficit. Brown attempted 18 free throws in the opening 20 minutes of action to four for BU, while five Braves had to spend time on the bench with at least two fouls as Brown headed into the intermission ahead by seven, 33-26.

Bradley answered back in the second stanza, however. Trailing by nine, 37-28, the Braves used an early 14-3 stretch to take their first lead of the half, 42-40, setting up an exciting finish to the contest. Brown would use a 9-0 run to pull ahead, 56-50, only for Bradley to return the favor and score nine-straight points to go back ahead, 59-56, with 3:30 remaining.

The Bears, however, sunk a triple with 2:16 left to tie the game at 59. After both teams had a couple of stops, Bradley seemed to have a transition layup in the cards but its attempt was blocked and then Brown took advantage of numbers on its end to hit an open 3-pointer for the 62-59 lead. The Braves twice had the ball in the closing seconds trailing by three but were unable to get off a chance at a game-tying triple of its own as the Bears secured the 65-62 victory.

Bradley made 43.1 percent of its field goals with a 33.3 percent clip from 3-point range, while Brown connected on 34.5 percent of its shots with a 7-of-15 mark from beyond the arc. The Bears also took advantage at the charity stripe with 18 made free throws to four for BU.

The Braves are back in action on Monday afternoon, playing Duquesne at noon CT.
