Bradley Set for 2021 MVC Indoor Track Championship

The Bradley track and field teams head to Cedar Falls, Iowa for the 2021 Missouri Valley Conference Indoor Championship this weekend. The three-day meet begins on Friday on the campus of Northern Iowa.

MEET INFO
The action begins on the track on Friday at noon. For the first time, the men and women will be split into two sessions during the first two days of action with the men competing in the afternoon and the women competing at night. Both championships will then run simultaneously on Sunday afternoon, beginning at 11:30 a.m.

Bradley is scheduled to compete in the finals for the 5,000m, distance medley relay and long jump in Friday's action, while also set for the prelims in the 200m dash. Saturday's action then includes the finals for the mile and 3,000m plus the prelims for the 60m, 400m, 800m and 60m hurdles. The action then wraps up on Sunday with the 60m, 60m hurdles, 200m, 400m, 800m and 4x400 relay.

The top three finishers in each event will be named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference Team.

2020 MVC RECAP
The Bradley men placed seventh at the 2020 MVC Indoor Championship, while the women finished ninth.

Jake Hoffert collected all-conference honors for the Braves with a second-place finish in the 5,000m run to highlight the performance for the BU men. Jack Franklin added points in two events – finishing fourth in the 3,000m and seventh in the 5,000m -- while Joey Simon placed eighth in the 800m to score for the Braves.

McKenzie Altmayer recorded the top finish by the Bradley women, placing fourth in the 3,000m. Hannah Ivy also became the first Bradley sprinter to score in an individual event at the indoor conference meet since 1991 when she placed eighth in the 400m dash.

BRAVES IN THE TOP FIVE
The Braves enter the indoor championship ranked in the top five a total of 10 times in individual events in addition to three relays.

The men's 3,000m run highlights the regular-season action for BU as Bradley owns four of the top five times in the league. Charlie Parrish leads the way for Bradley with the top mark in the Valley, while Matt Aho is second, Evan Mitchell is third and Alec Danner is fifth. Max Dieterich also owns the fourth-best time in the mile, while the DMR is second.

Wilma Nielsen has highlighted the action for BU so far in 2021. The rookie owns the top time in the conference in the 800m and the second-best time in the mile. Julia Nielsen and Tiana LoStracco are also second and fourth in the 800m, while Ashley Maguire is fifth in the 3,000m. The women's DMR also ranks third with the 4x400 relay placing fifth.
