OMAHA, NE – Creighton designated hitter Alan Roder hit a 3-run home run in the seventh inning and the Bluejays (5-7) made the blast stand up, taking a 6-4 win against visiting Bradley (5-8) in the opening game of a shortened, 2-game series Saturday afternoon at TD Ameritrade Park.

The Braves pushed across four runs in the third inning to build a 4-2 lead.  Jackson Chatterton, who finished 2-for-3 at the plate, drove home Bradley's first run with a RBI single before TJ Manteufel, who had doubled earlier in the inning, scored on a wild pitch to pull the Braves into a 2-2 tie.  Connor O'Brien added the go-ahead hit with a 2-run single later in the third inning.

The Bluejays got one run back in the fourth inning on a Ryan Mantle sacrifice fly against Bradley starter Dalton MallJed Moscot (2-1) relieved Mall with runners at the corners and one out in the fourth and he got the Braves out of the jam by inducing a double play.

Moscot finished out the game on the bump, but suffered the hardluck loss with the hiccup in the seventh.  With two outs and nobody on base, Creighton started its rally with consecutive singles and Roden took advantage by following with his blast over the right field wall.

Moscot scattered five hits in his 4.2 IP, but four of them came in the deciding seventh inning.

Both Chatterton and O'Brien finished the game 2-for-3.  Roden and Andrew Meggs led Creighton's 10-hit attack, each finishing 3-for-4.

After Friday's scheduled series opener was cancelled due to wet field conditions at TD Ameritrade Park, the teams will close out the abbreviated series with a noon game Sunday.  Bradley is scheduled ot open its 2021 home schedule Tuesday by hosting SIU Edwardsville in a 6 p.m. game at Dozer Park.
