NEW ORLEANS, LA – Junior RHP Matt Hamilton turned in 3.0 innings of scoreless relief and sophomore 1B Connor O'Brien delivered the go-ahead single in the seventh inning, leading Bradley (3-3) to a 6-3 win Sunday at New Orleans (5-6), clinching the weekend series for the Braves at Maestri Field.

The top four hitters in the Bradley order led the offensive charge, reaching base nine times on seven hits and two walks and the quartet combined for five runs scored.

Brendan Dougherty was 2-or-5 and started the go-ahead rally in the seventh by fouling off six straight pitches before his leadoff single.  A fifth-year senior, Dougherty swiped his eighth career base with one out to move into scoring position, and after Dan Bolt flew out, O'Brien smacked a line drive single into left field to bring Dougherty home.

Junior Carl Valk entered the game as a pinch-runner in the eighth inning, but came through at the plate in the ninth when he dropped a 2-out, 2-run double into the left centerfield gap to complete the game's scoring.

Closer Theron Denlinger labored in the ninth, walking two and needing 37 pitches to complete the inning, but he earned his first save of the year by stranding the runners at the corners.

Bradley starter Nick King cruised through the UNO lineup through the first three innings, retiring nine of the first 10 Privateers batters, but the hosts touched him for two runs on three hits in the fourth inning.

King ran into trouble again in the fifth when UNO loaded the bases with one out on a single, a walk and a hit by pitch.  Junior LHP Troy Hickey limited the damage to one run on a sacrifice fly as the Privateers pulled even, 3-3.

Hamilton (W, 1-0) took over on the mound to start the sixth inning and he retired the first eight batters he faced until a 2-out hit by pitch in the eighth.  After a stolen base put the tying run at in scoring position, though, Hamilton responded by getting a foul out to end the threat.

Bradley started fast Sunday, taking a 3-0 lead by scoring twice in the first and once more in the second.  Ryan Vogel got the scoring started when he legged out a bunt single and came around to score when Bolt dumped a single into right field and the throw to third went wide.  After an O'Brien single and a Eli Rawlinson sacrifice bunt, Bolt then scored on a wild pitch.

TJ Manteufel was hit by a pitch to lead off the second inning, he advanced to second on a wild pitch and third on a Jackson Chatterton sacrifice then scored on Vogel's 2-out bunt single.

Bradley will return to action next weekend by visiting Alabama State for a 3-game series, beginning with Friday's 6 p.m. opener.
