Game Recap: Baseball |
PEORIA, IL – The Bradley baseball team scored 16 runs in the fourth and fifth innings to ease to an 18-4 non-conference victory against Saint Louis on Friday night at Dozer Park. The Braves are now 13-14 on the season, while the Billikens drop to 12-21.

Senior Brendan Dougherty was 2-for-4 on the night with a team-best five RBI. Meanwhile, four local players – Dan Bolt (Morton, IL), Jackson Chatterton (Dunlap, IL), Isaiah Gudeman (Morton, IL) and Ryan Vogel (Metamora, IL) combined to go 8-for-12 on the night with 10 runs scored and nine RBI. Chatterton was 3-for-4 with four RBI, while Vogel added three hits in three plate appearances with three runs scored.

The Billikens opened the scoring in the second inning with a solo home run. However, Chatteron answered in the home half of the third inning with a solo shot of his own – his third of the season.

The Braves then broke open the contest in the fourth and fifth innings. Bradley scored five runs in the fourth to take a 6-1 lead, taking advantage of four free bases – three walks and one hit by pitch – to go with two hits and an error. BU then added 11 runs in the fifth frame – the second-highest scoring inning for BU at Dozer Park. Only a 13-run inning in 2008 against Indiana State produced more runs for the Braves in their home park. Bradley then eased to the 18-4 seven-inning victory following the 16 runs in the two frames.

Taylor Catton improved to 3-1 on the mound, pitching three innings and allowing only one run.

The schools are set for game two of the three-game series tomorrow afternoon. First pitch at Dozer Park is scheduled for 1 p.m.
