Game Recap: Baseball | | Bobby Parker, Associate AD for Communications
DALLAS – Playing its fourth consecutive doubleheader of the last two weekends, Bradley came away with its fourth consecutive split Saturday at Horner Ballpark.  The Braves (18-19, 10-9) slugged their way to a 13-10 win in Saturday's first game at No. 28 Dallas Baptist, but could not keep pace with the Patriots (31-13, 16-4 MVC) in the nightcap, suffering a 16-6 loss in eight innings.

Bradley will close out the regular season by hosting I-74 rival Illinois State in a 3-game Missouri Valley Conference series.  All three games will be noon starts Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Dozer Park.

GAME 1 RECAP | Bradley 13, DBU 10
After Bradley saw its early 8-0 lead disappear, junior DH Eli Rawlinson hit go-ahead home runs in both the seventh and ninth innings and freshman 2B Jackson Chatterton delivered the needed insurance with a 3-run home run in the ninth, leading the Braves to a marathon, 13-10 victory to open Saturday's doubleheader.

With the teams combining for 27 hits and putting 41 runners on base, Saturday's opener lasted 4-hours, 3-minutes.  All nine Bradley hitters collected at least one hit and either scored at least one run or drove in at least one run.  Rawlinson finished the day 3-for-5 with a double and his two home runs, while Chatterton (2-4, 3 RBI), Brendan Dougherty (2-5, 3 RBI) and TJ Manteufel (2-3, 1 RBI) all contributed two hits.

NOTES:  By scoring five in the second inning and three more in the fourth, Bradley raced out to an 8-0 lead for the second time in the first three games of the series … Jed Moscot (4-2) allowed a tying home run in the eighth, but earned the win by allowing DBU just the lone run on four hits in his 3.2 IP … Although he did not qualify for the save after Bradley's 4-run outburst in the ninth, Theron Denlinger struck out DBU cleanup hitter Andres Sosa with two on to end the game … Dougherty extended his on-base streak to 32 consecutive games … Junior C Keaton Rice drew his 100th career walk in the ninth inning, the seventh player in program history to draw 100 free passes, and scored what proved to be the game-winning run on Chatterton's HR.

GAME 2 RECAP | DBU 16, Bradley 6 (8 innings)
Dougherty led off the game with a home run, but Austin Bell answered with a homer of his own to leadoff the home half of the first and the Patriots took control with a pair of 6-run outbursts in the second and sixth innings.

DBU roughed up five Bradley pitchers for 16 runs on 16 hits as Bell (3-5), Moore (3-4) and Wrobleski (3-5) all posted three hits in the nightcap.

Bradley senior RF Dan Bolt paced the Bradley attack by going 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and a hit-by-pitch in his four plate appearances.  Although Bolt was limited to four hits in the series, they all went for extra bases (two doubles and two home runs) and he reached base safely 11 times in the series by adding six walks to the hit by pitch.

NOTES:  Dougherty added a RBI double to finish the game 2-for-5 and his leadoff HR extended his on-base streak to 33 consecutive games, tied for the second-longest streak by a Bradley player in this millennium … Chris Godinez reached base safely in the final 33 games of the 2015 season and Brad Canada reached safely in 35 consecutive games from May 22, 2004-April 24, 2005 … Senior RHP Ryan Hodgett started sixth inning on the mound, but came out of the game after appearing to injure his arm on his fifth pitch … Freshman RHP Taylor Catton, who pitched in relief in Friday's series opener, started Saturday's finale, but allowed six runs on five hits in 1.1 IP.
