Bradley/DBU Tourney Game Suspended

Game 7 of the MVC Baseball Championship will resume Friday at 11 a.m. with DBU leading 4-2 in the sixth inning

CARBONDALE, IL – Game 7 of the Missouri Valley Conference Baseball Championship between third-seeded Bradley and top-seeded Dallas Baptist has been suspended due to weather and will be resumed at 11 a.m. Friday at Itchy Jones Stadium.

The start of Thursday's game was delayed 43 minutes due to lightning in the area with the threat of an impending storm. After play began, Bradley built a 2-0 lead on Ryan Vogel's third-inning home run and Brendan Dougherty's fifth-inning RBI single.

Bradley junior LHP Brooks Gosswein cruised through the first four innings, but DBU pushed across four runs in the fifth to pull ahead, 4-2. After Bradley came up empty in the sixth, the teams were pulled off the field in the middle of the sixth as a storm moved into the area.

While lightning forced the game to be halted, persistent rain prevented the resumption of the game Thursday night. The outcome of the Bradley/DBU game will affect the remainder of the tournament bracket, as Bradley faces elimination following Wednesday's loss to Southern Illinois, but Dallas Baptist is undefeated in the tournament.
