Kaboom! Awards: Tennis Highlights

Bradley Tennis posted a winning record for a third consecutive year in 2021

The 2021 Kaboom! Awards, presented by RE/MAX Traders Unlimited and supported by PNC, once again is being celebrated virtually during the middle of June. This week's schedule of presentations is focused on each sport's season highlights, including today's spotlight on Bradley Tennis.

The Braves (10-7, 3-2 MVC) got hot down the stretch this spring, winning their final five dual matches of the regular season to secure a third consecutive winning season for the first time since 1991-93. The hot finish also carried the Braves to a winning conference record in consecutive league seasons for the first time since the merger of women's athletics into the Missouri Valley Conference in 1993.

Individually, Bradley Tennis placed three players on the All-Missouri Valley Conference squads, as sophomore Nikki Perlwitz earned All-MVC recognition at No. 6 Singles, while Nos. 1 and 2 Singles players Sandra Maletin and Bozana Lojpur both earned MVC All-Select honors. Maletin once again led the Braves in singles victories, posting a 12-4 mark from her No. 1 Singles position, while Lojpur followed with an 11-4 mark at No. 2 Singles and Perlwitz was a combined 10-4 at Nos. 5 and 6 Singles. Freshman Maria Bezmenova added a 9-7 record at No. 4 Singles as the Braves posted winning records in four of the six singles positions, as well as two of the three doubles positions.

Further adding to the 2021 season highlights, Maletin and senior Natalia Barbery teamed for a 3-3 record at No. 1 Doubles during the early portion of the season and completed their partnership as the winningest doubles team in program history with 43 wins together the last three years.

Resuming Wednesday morning, the 2020-21 Bradley Women's Basketball season will be highlighted as the 2021 Kaboom! Awards, presented by RE/MAX Traders Unlimited and supported by PNC, continues.
