Game Recap: Baseball |
Nashville, Tenn. – The Bradley baseball team scored three runs in the sixth inning and freshman Jacob Kisting pitched seven innings of one-run ball to lead the Braves to a 3-2 victory over Pittsburgh on Saturday. BU evens its record at 3-3, while the Panthers also move to 3-3 after the teams' second-straight one-run decision.

The Panthers scored the game's first run with a two-out single in the opening inning but that is all Kisting would allow his ACC opponent on the day. The score remained 1-0 until the sixth frame when the first four Braves reached base en route to a three-run inning.

Sophomore Ryan Vogel opened the sixth with a leadoff double and was followed by a single from junior Connor O'Brien. Redshirt freshman Peter Hansen then drove in the team's first run when his bunt brought Vogel home for the 1-1 game. Sophomore TJ Manteufel added another bunt single to load the bases before a pair of sacrifice flies from Keaton Rice and Carson Husmann led to a 3-1 Bradley advantage.

Double plays ended threats in both the seventh and eighth innings by the Panthers before Taylor Catton pitched the ninth for his first save of the season. Pitt got one run back via a solo home run before Catton retired the final two batters via a strikeout and a groundout to third for the 3-2 victory.

Making just his second collegiate appearance, Kisting recorded his first career win behind seven innings pitched – allowing just the first-inning run to go with five hits and three strikeouts.

The Braves are back in action next weekend, beginning a three-game series at Southeast Missouri State on Friday at 3 p.m.
